The Cylch gates are opened at 8:55. Admittance will not be allowed before then. Parents collecting their child from Nursery at 11.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. are also requested to wait outside the same gate where their children will be transferred into their care.<\/p>\n<p>Reception class children will be transferred from the \u2018Gareth Bale\u2019 gate which is visible on the school playground. In the morning Reception class pupils are to be brought to the Cylch gate at the back of the Under 5 Unit. The gate will be open from 8.55 \u2013 9.00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1102\" src=\"https:\/\/ysgolyllys.cymru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/125-Llys.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Religious Education<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The school has no direct or formal religious affiliation, but local Ministers\/Priests are invited to the school from time to time to address the children. Services are held daily and classes take it in turn to conduct Services on Fridays.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Religious Education is also on the timetable of every class and children are expected to participate in all lessons and activities. We follow the New Curriculum for Wales guidance on Religious Education.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Physical Education<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>All pupils are expected to take part in P.E. and Games. Children in Key Stage 2 have swimming lessons between September and April. Children in Year 2 have an introductory period of swimming lessons during the Summer Term.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The Annual Sports Day is held during the summer term and the children compete to gain points for their houses &#8211; Arthur, Glyndwr, Llywelyn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Key Stage 2 pupils also compete in areas such as football, rugby, cricket and netball Games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">We concentrate on the basic skills during our PE lessons, but we have after school clubs for netball, football, rugby, athletics, dance etc. Professional coaches\/instructors are used wherever possible to reinforce the work of the school staff.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Homework<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Homework is given in accordance with the homework policy and at the discretion of the teacher with regard to the needs of the children.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">In the early years particularly, parents are encouraged to read to the children at home and to help children with reading books, which are sent home from school. Each child has a home\/school reading record and parents are asked to write comments about their child&#8217;s reading at home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Parents are welcome to discuss any aspect of their child&#8217;s work and the teacher will always arrange a suitable time for such a discussion.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Reports<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>A pupil report in the form of a pupil profile is prepared by the class teacher towards the end of the school year and parents can also discuss this during the third open evening. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Parents will also receive opportunities during the academic year to meet with staff to discuss pupil progress. These will include, informal drop in sessions, online\/hybrid School Cloud Meetings, Formal Parent Evenings etc.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Open Evenings<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Open evenings are arranged three times annually &#8211; the first at the beginning of the Academic Year, the second half way through the year and then at the end of the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">During the first of these in September parents have the opportunity to meet the teachers for a general discussion about the class programme for the year. For the other two open evenings, parents are allocated times when they can view their children&#8217;s work and discuss this fully with the class teacher.
